Just a quick announcement. Sorry for the lack of news and posting lately. Between family emergencies and other obligations many of us have been off line.
Slowly getting back into it.
Please forgive us… now on with the news.

Happy New Year everyone from Team Georgia. I know that news has been few and far between but we are all excited about 2009 and the filming of New Moon. Check back often for information on the movie, the actors, and events surrounding Twilight, New Moon, and Stephenie Meyer.
We wish you a happy and prosperous New Year!
So, I just had to share this with all of you. As many of you know I am a 7th grade Social Studies teacher. In my classroom I have a place on the wall where I list the current book that I am reading. This has started a ton of conversations about reading and books with my students. Last night at parent night I was approached by the mother of one of my male students. She shook my hand and instantly thanked me for inspiring her son to read. She said that he had come home from school insisiting that she take him to the bookstore to purchase his teacher’s favorite book. She stated that her son hated reading and she was so excited that he was actually interested in reading for once. This morning when the student arrived he couldn’t wait to tell me what part of the book he was at and how much he was enjoying it. Later this afternoon as he waited for his bus he again wanted to discuss Twilight. Before he left he thanked me again for sharing my interests with him and his classmates. I was super excited to see a student so turned on to reading simply based on my suggestions. It was also really cool for me to see a male student reading Twilight! I also spoke to my Language Arts teammate and she stated that lots of the kids tried to check out Twilight from our school library, but since they only have seven copies there isn’t enough to go around. How cool is it that kids are so excited to read the series that we care so deeply about? Thanks for listening to me gush! I just had to share this with someone! It’s moments like this that make teaching worthwhile for me!
